Why You Should Ignore Dating Advice

If you’ve been following our articles, you may note that we haven’t been posting much of late. It’s also because I’ve been feeling…uninspired. Since my last post, I’ve personally experienced first hand that there is no process or formula to help you understand the opposite sex because each person will bring something different to your life. You can’t possibly understand their actions when they don’t act the way you expect them to. As you’ll see from our previous articles, our guy panel all share different opinions when it comes to dating proving that there simply shouldn’t be a one size fits all approach. So instead, our mixed panel share what they’ve learned — A.

Mark: Despite what women say, they all want you to spoil them.

I’ve learned to be a bit more old fashioned. Chivalrous but at the same time call them out when they say they want to be treated equally. They say shit like “I can buy my own dinner” I’ll say “but I want to buy you dinner…and the chocolate dessert that comes after and all the roses in the world”. They love it.

Iona: Pay Attention to What Someone Does Not What They Say

As cliche as it may be, actions really do speak louder than words. Want to know if someone is genuine? See if they do what they say. People can tell you all the things you want to hear but unless it is actioned, it doesn’t mean much. What I’ve noticed lately is how easily we throw around the words ‘I’m sorry’ when half the time, we don’t really mean it. It takes guts to express your feelings but even more effort to act on them.

Jack: All women are the same. Regardless for cultural or language differences, they want to be treated well…and they laugh at the same jokes.

Amy: People Will Tell You What You Want To Know

If you listen closely, you’ll realise that people will tell you what you want to know. Say you want to know if a guy/girl is ready for a relationship. If they’re just looking for a fling, they’ll tell you about their Saturday bender with the boys and how he’s really enjoying his single life. A girl who’s not over her breakup will constantly bring up her ex in subtle ways. Sometimes it just takes reading in between the lines.

Mark: Women will never directly tell you the truth but if a woman likes you, she’ll go out of her way to make it known.
